Community Facilities
Apart from the significant benefits for local business and industry, Pregno is also committed to providing a lasting legacy for the Edmonton community.
Blackfellows Creek bisects the site and flows from south-west to north-east, and represents a major asset of the site. The creek winds its way through the middle of the site and significant planning has been undertaken to incorporate this natural asset as the “green spine” of the development.
The linkage of the mangrove ecosystem to the east, and the tropical rainforest and other vegetation habitats to the west are key features of the creek corridor.
It is planned to regenerate areas along the Creek and to provide a range of community recreational facilities including parks, BBQ areas, viewing platforms, two district level sports fields and one district level informal park area, cycle paths and walking trails.
The site will include:
-
A riparian corridor & open space totalling 50 hectares or approximately 23% of the site
- Including three district and local level sporting fields and
- 42 hectares of recreational space/open space
A goal of the development is to provide a “green corridor” that connects the Edmonton Business and Industry Park site with the proposed Edmonton Town Centre on the western side of the highway.
